Google Ads is generally cheaper here than in the UK (although this does depend on the market and competition). There are often fewer competitors using Google Ads however the volume of clicks is also lower.

You can directly target exactly the type of people that you want to attract, using keywords and audience targeting, you can target people for example who are looking for your service in say a 10 km radius from around your business location.

Example 1

If you are a kitchen fitting service then you may run ads which show to people who Google considers to be “in market” for home improvement, who live within 20 km (or your maximum travel distance) and who are actively searching for “new kitchen fitters near me”

Example 2

You are a plumber who specializes in emergency repair work and often get callouts in the evening and at weekends. You can run Ads, only at certain times and days of the week, within a certain travel distance from your place of business and Ads that only run with your phone number and when someone searches on their mobile phone.

The targeting options for Google Ads are endless, and if employed correctly can be highly effective.

3. Positioning

When you search on Google, normally the first 4 positions are reserved for Ads, so even if you are at the top of the Search Engine Results page naturally, there can be 4 of your competitors above you.

4. Protect your brand

Very often people are looking for your business online and so if a competitor decides to run ads using your brand name as a keyword, then they will appear above you on the search engines.

The good news is that if you run Google Ads for your brand then they will be very cheap, normally less than 5 cents per click and your competitors will have to pay a premium to run ads using your name as a keyword.

5. Different types of Ads

You can run Ads that only show on mobile phones with your service, business name and phone number, traditional ads that appear at the top of the Search Engine Results Pages, YouTube Ads, Shopping Ads and display Ads that appear on other peoples’ websites.
